Victorian Silver Plated Biscuit Box

19th century
Description

A fine example of a Silver Plated Biscuit Box.

Manufactured by Fenton Bros, the design Lozenge mark on the base accurately dates this box at 23 March 1880.

The condition is amazing, given it's age. Overall classically rectangular, rather than the scalloped edge featured by many Victorian biscuit boxes, it is plain with a decorative empty cartouche on both sides. The hinges work well. Inside it is not gilded and the silver plate is in excellent condition. The splayed feet end on balls which sit evenly on the surface.

Dimensions:

Height: 22cm

Width: 19cm

Depth: 15.5cm to the splayed feet.

Post and packaging are free within the UK via Royal Mail special delivery. Overseas buyers please e-mail for postage costs. Thank you.

Please note: payment by credit or debit card can be made by pressing the ‘pay now’ button on the item page - A PayPal account is not needed.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
