Heavy Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Snuff Box 1856

Description

This is a superb antique Victorian hallmarked sterling silver snuff box measuring 3 1/2" (9 cms) x 2 1/2" (6.5 cms) x 1" (2.5 cms).

Inside is in very good clean condition and still retains the original gilding.

Outside is also in great condition with beautiful engraving and the lid bears the inscription -

'Presented to Thomas Cox Esquire by his esteemed friend William Aston, November 1862'.

It weighs 191 grams which gives you an idea of the quality and is hallmarked for Birmingham 1856 with the silversmiths mark for Owen & Boon.
