Antique Solid Silver Taper or Candlestick

Description

This is a lovely example of a Georgian-styled solid sterling silver taper stick or small candlestick.

Hallmarked on the side of the base for Sheffield 1893, with the maker's mark of Hawksworth, Eyre & Co Ltd, the taper/candle stick is classical in design. The base is weighted for stability and neatly finished with a circle of felt. It is not gilded - any suggestion of gilding in the pictures is just a reflection of the camera flash.

Base: 6.5cm sq.
