This is a lovely solid sterling silver tray.
Hallmarked clearly for Birmingham 1922, with the maker''s mark for Joseph Gloster Ltd, it is in a fine condition. It has been used and there are surface abrasions, as one would expect, with a couple of small but slightly deeper scratches on the surface of the tray. There are no dents or tears to the silver.
The two handles are worked into the scrolled, pierced gallery, which leans outwards, the better to appreciate the pattern. It is a tactile and heavy piece of silver, which is also very elegant and practical.
