Antique Solid Silver Edwardian Jewellery Box With Cameo

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: The Silver Cabinet

A very pretty and unusual solid sterling silver jewellery or trinket box.

Clearly hallmarked on the base, with a partial hallmark on the lid, for Birmingham 1912, with the maker''s mark of Sydney & Co., this box has a cameo attached to the front. The cameo is in high relief and shows a lady looking to the side. The cameo sits in the middle of an engine-turned decoration on the lid. The box is free from any initials or engravings. The inside of the lid retains a good covering of gilding and the hinge is tight. The box stands squarely on four splayed feet and the silver is in excellent condition.
