We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Ziegler carpets were originally produced in the late 19th century by the Swiss firm Ziegler & Co., which established workshops in Persia to adapt traditional Persian designs for Western interior tastes, often featuring muted palettes and expansive fields.

These carpets are traditionally hand-knotted using hand-spun wool for the pile, often set on a cotton foundation, and dyed using natural vegetable and mineral dyes that develop a rich patina over time.

Authentic pieces exhibit irregularities in weave and symmetry due to hand production, natural abrash colour variations in the wool, hand-bound selvedges, and age-appropriate wear to the pile and foundation.

An antique carpet anchors contemporary or transitional spaces by introducing historical texture, warmth, and organic pattern, pairing effectively with minimalist furnishings, neutral walls, and architectural lighting.

Preservation requires regular gentle vacuuming without beater bars, professional hand-washing by specialists, rotation to ensure even wear, and the use of a breathable underlay to protect the foundation.
