Woodbridge Antiques has dated this piece to the 1940s.
The cut glass base is a good heavy weight and two sides are cut with a sun ray design (see photos). The inside of the silver lid is gilt washed and a lovely pale gold colour. Clear hallmarks and maker's marks are visible on the side of the silver lid: Birmingham 1933, made by Adie Brothers.

Condition. The glass base in in excellent used condition as is the silver enamelled lid (no enamel missing).
