Woodbridge Antiques has dated this piece to the Edwardian era.
There is a good loop for attaching at the top. The lid opens and closes perfectly and firmly, with a good neat hinge to one side. When the lid is opened clear hallmarks are revealed on the inside of the top and also on the lip that fits under the top: Birmingham 1901 with maker's mark: George Unite. This interior lip is lightly gilded.

Condition: This Vesta case is in excellent used condition with no dents or marks to the silver.
