Antique Victorian Solid Silver Wine Taster Or Quaich

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: The Silver Cabinet

An excellent example of a Victorian solid sterling silver Wine Taster or Quaich.

Modelled on those of the mid-17th Century, with shallow bowl and twin handles, this wine taster is hallmarked in London for 1890 with the maker''s mark of Daniel & John Wellby.

It is heavily decorated with repousse work with vines and foliage. The two handles are firmly attached and the four ball feet stand evenly.

The silver is in excellent condition. There is a slight ''wave'' around the pie crust edging, which may or may not be the design.
