Antique Solid Silver Jewellery Box

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: The Silver Cabinet

A lovely example of a simple, solid sterling silver jewellery or trinket box.

Hallmarked on the base and also with a partial hallmark on the lid for Birmingham 1915, it is plain, unadorned and unengraved. Rectangular in shape, the lid is slightly domed and the box stands squarely on four cabriole feet, with the original red satin lining.

The silver is in excellent condition. The lining is firmly attached and just a little worn towards the hinge at the back of the box. The hinge is tight and the lid fits well. It is not gilded - any suggestion of gilding in the pictures is just a reflection of the camera flash.
