The Silver Cabinet has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
Clearly hallmarked inside both the lid and base for Birmingham 1843, this solid sterling silver vinaigrette is in mint condition, apart from a tiny crease on the side of the grill (as shown in the photographs).

The picture is of St Paul's Cathedral. The reverse has a crisp decorative scroll pattern with initials on the cartouche. The hinges are tight and the vinaigrette closes well. The gilding inside is in excellent condition and the vinaigrette appears to be unused.
