Superb Pr Antique German Solid Silver Candleabra C1880

Description

This is a superb pair of antique silver 2 branch candlesticks each measuring 7” (18 cms) tall and 9 1/4” (24 cms) across at the ends of the sconces.

They stand on super oval bases decorated with floral and swag patterns and they weigh 748 grams the pair and are absolutely lovely and in excellent undamaged condition.

They were made in Germany with the 830 mark and the maker’s mark for Karl Sohnlein and there is also a mark with three crowns and the letter S which suggest the maker Gottlieb Kurz who was also working in Germany in the late 1880's.

There were a number of German silversmiths who worked together at that time and these candlesticks may well have been a joint project between the two top quality makers.
