Robert Bush Antiques has dated this piece to the Edwardian era.
It measures 3 1/4” (8 cms) x 2 3/4” (7 cms) and weighs 100 grams.
On the front it has a typical picture of a desert scene with palm trees and a small town, but on the reverse it has the Arch of Ctesiphon which dates back to AD 540 and is the largest unsupported arch on earth.
'Ctesiphon was the capital city of the Parthian and Sasanian Empires.
This is a very unusual item as we have never seen anything like this made by Sampson Mordan, and it is something of a rarity.
It's in very good original condition with just a few minor age related marks.
