Excellent Victorian Solid Silver & Enamel Vesta Case 1898

Description

Both the silver and enamel on this solid sterling silver vesta case are in excellent condition.

Clearly hallmarked for Birmingham 1898, with the maker's mark for William M Hayes, the front features an enamel cartoon of Punch, which stands proud of the silver. The vesta case is not gilded - any suggestion of gilding in the photographs is simply a reflection of the camera flash.

The back is clear of engravings and shows very light abrasion marks.
