An excellent example of a solid sterling silver vinaigrette.
Clearly hallmarked inside the lid for Birmingham 1826, with the maker''s mark of John Bettridge, this vinaigrette dates from the reign of George IV.
The front has a raised quilted pattern around an empty rectangular cartouche. The base has a bright cut flower design. The gilding inside is in excellent condition and the hinges are good and tight. The vinaigrette is not gilded on the outside - this is just a reflection of the camera flash.
