19th Century Solid Silver Continental Heart Shaped Box with Putti and Birds Design.

Description

19th century lovely solid silver Continental small heart shaped box designed with all over foliate embossed decoration, and featuring a putti being draped with garlands held aloft by a pair of birds, on the front cover.

The lid, which is hinged on the side, opens to reveal an interior suited for pills or other tokens. It closes tightly. This would make a great box to hold an engagement ring for presentation, for example.

Weight-35 grams.

Size-1.75 inches long by 1 5/8 inches wide by .5 inches high.

In very good condition, this is a popular and romantic theme, both with the heart shape, and the decoration.
