Description

This is a George V hallmarked sterling silver hand mirror. It was assayed in Birmingham in 1912/13 and made by S Blanckensee & Sons Ltd

It is decorated with ornate repoussage depicting masks, birds and scrolling acanthus leaves.

It is 18cm long and weighs 424g.

It is an impressive piece but is not in perfect order. The mask on the rear of the handle has been bashed and there are a few raised points on the silver where there are small holes. There is discolouration to one small piece of the silver. Some of the backing to the mirror has come off around the bottom. There are other small surface marks.

Declaration

TJR Trading has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
