Rare Pair of Bacchanalian Pattern Victorian Silver Serving Spoons...

A fabulous pair of long handled silver serving spoons in the rare and highly desirable Bacchanalian pattern. Hallmarked London 1873.

The handles of these servers are decorated with a classical scene of happy semi-clad revellers drinking wine within a garden landscape. They are celebrating the festival of Bacchus and the reverse side of the bowl has a mask of this Greek God of the grape harvest and wine. The reverse of the spoon handles are further decorated with bunches of grapes and wine related objects. This Regency period pattern was originally designed by Paul Storr for Rundell, Bridge & Rundell.
