Birmingham 1823 Rare Shaped Solid Silver Tea Caddy Spoon by Very Good Maker John Bettridge.

Description

Birmingham 1823 George IV English hallmarked solid silver rare form tea caddy spoon by very good maker John Bettridge.

Unusual rectangular shaped bowl having shaped edges is engraved with a wriggle work design, as is the handle.

The reverse of the handle has a lovely and embellished rattail.

Hallmarks are extremely clear.

Size-3 inches long by 1.5 inches wide.

These were used to mix the tea leaves in the mixing bowls of tea caddys, and then to transfer the leaves to the pot for brewing. Now, can be used for anything.

A very pretty example of a caddy spoon, for the collector of caddy spoons, or of small silver.

It would look perfect in an antique tea caddy box.

In very good condition.
