Serpentine Antiques has dated this piece to the 1860s.
These are a typical Scottish style of tongs having a concave bow.
The hallmarks are very clear and are on the underside of the bow.
Weight-45 grams.
Size-6 inches long by .75 inches wide.
An unusual piece of provincial Scottish silver in very good condition, with excellent spring to the arms and no distortion.
Glasgow silver is scarce and very collectable, as the assay office closed in 1964.
