Sheffield 1960 Sixteen Piece Solid Silver Dessert Canteen by Mappin and Webb in Original Fitted Case.

Description

Sheffield 1960 sixteen piece English hallmarked solid silver dessert canteen or cutlery service for 8 people in the original fitted case, comprising a knife and fork for each person. Made by very famous maker Mappin and Webb, and retailed by them as well. The case interior bears their logo.

They are designed with a double struck beaded edge pattern with a leaf carving to stem terminal, and staggered along the sides. They are thick in gauge.

Size-forks 6.25 inches long, knives 7.00 inches long.

Size of case-14.25 inches long by 8.25 inches wide by 1.5 inches high.

Weight-approximately 400 grams, having deducted half of knife weight due to the stainless blades.

Weight total including case for shipping-1.35 kilos.

The eight forks are completely solid silver, while the knives have silver handles and Mappin and Webb stainless blades.

Two of the knives are hallmarked Sheffield 1956, while one is Sheffield 1965.

The knives are also very useful to use for a cheese course.

A lovely and complete superior quality solid silver dessert service for eight people, in the original case, and in very good condition.

This would make a lovely gift for a wedding or anniversary, or a very functional set to own.
