Robert Bush Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
It measures 3” (7.5 cms) x 2” (5 cms) x 3/4” (2 cms) and on the lid it also has engraved E W PEARSALL FROM GEO.W.SEELY & Co plus 2.4 which is presumably the race time of the horse.
It's a beautiful box, marked with the number 22 on both the lid and the base but with no other hallmarks.
It is quite lovely and full of historic interest and dates from c 1870. It weighs 84 grams.
