The Silver Cabinet has dated this piece to the Edwardian era.
Clearly hallmarked for Birmingham 1911, with the maker's mark for Henry Matthews.
The case is heavily decorated all over, with empty cartouches on all four sides and the lid. The domed lid fits tightly and carries a partial hallmark. The gilding inside is in excellent condition, as is the silver itself.
