Beautiful Antique Silver Pounce Pot 1840

Description

This is a lovely example of a very early Victorian solid sterling silver pounce pot.

The pot is clearly hallmarked on the side for London 1840, with the maker's mark of William Chawner II. There is also a partial hallmark on the side of the lid.

The lid fits tightly and the silver throughout is in excellent condition.

The decoration is beautifully crisp and the gilding inside is also in excellent condition. There is an empty cartouche on the side.

Height to top of finial: 9.5cm

Weight: 81g.
