Description

This is a large Indian silver trophy cup. It was presented at The Beefengler Cup 1935.

It is decorated with a band of Hindu figures around the side and is half gadrooned. As with much Indian silver it is not hallmarked. It is gilded to the inside. It is marked what looks to be 'R 7 5' to the edge of the foot.

It is just over 20cm tall and weighs 306g.

The stem of the cup has become crushed where it meets the base and there are a number of dents to the rim of the foot. There are a number of other small dents and surface marks.

TJR Trading has dated this piece to the 1930s.
