The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this piece to the 1800s.
The salver measures 26cm diameter and weighs 535g (approximately 18½ oz). It has good clear hallmarks on the underneath for London 1800 with a maker's mark for John Munns (note his initials are upside down in relation to the rest of the hallmark; this was quite normal for John Munns).

The top of the salver has later engraving and the text reads, "Presented to the Rev J M St Clere Raymond by the labouring class of the Parish of Norton as a farewell token of their esteem and regards, Sep 7th 1847". Reverend St Clere Raymond was listed as the Curate of Norton, Durham in The Clergy List of 1841.
