Very Fine Unusual Solid Silver Vesta Case. Birmingham 1901 by Rolason Bros.

This stunning silver vesta case is in very good condition. Made by the Rolason Bros and assayed in Birmingham 1901, this is an unusual vesta in that the lid opens along the long side of the case - Sideways. The hinge is in perfect working order and the lid shuts with a nice ‘snap’.

Featuring ornate leaf engravings on both sides, the hallmarks are crisp and clear and the lid has gilding on the inside which is slightly worn. There is a vacant cartouche on one side of the case. Overall this vesta is a fabulous example and considering its age is in very good condition.

It measures approximately 5.3cm x 2.5cm and weights approximately 32g.
