Antique Silver Box 1897

This is a lovely simple, solid sterling silver box, clearly hallmarked on the base with the assay office mark for Birmingham 1897.
 
The box is beautifully gilded inside the base and lid. The lid fits well and the hinge is solid. There is a partial hallmark on the front edge of the lid.
 
Originally used for snuff, this box could be used for a variety of purposes, including jewellery, trinkets and, of course, snuff.
