Rosewood Adjustable Piano Stool

1900 - 1920
Description

Circa 1900, solid rosewood adjustable upholstered piano stool. The rectangular stool has a stuffover seat, above a deep apron with scratch carving on all sides. On the left and right side are two large turned knob handles which operates the rise and fall mechanism. The mechanism itself is cast iron and has a stamp on it ‘Marston Patent’ no 9591. When the piano stool is wound up there is another apron which appears from within. The whole piece stands on four simple square tapering legs finishing on elevated toes. Excellent condition, sturdy and robust. This type of piano stool was quite often used by professionals.

Size 47cm high rising to 52cm x 44cm wide x 35cm deep.
