Description

A delightful Victorian silver mounted caster from the sought after Chester Office. This unusual piece has a textured cranberry body and raised foot. The collar and lid are hallmarked silver and the piece would have probably been a large pepper or spice caster. A charming piece both useable and decorative.

Condition :- Excellent, with no dents or splits to the silver and no chips or cracks to the glass.

Hallmarks :- Clear, readable and matching.

Maker :- Saunders & Shepherd.

Date :- Chester 1890.

Height :- 9 cms.

Diameter :- 5.5. cms. (widest point).

Date of Manufacture

Jeff Sims Antiques has dated this piece to the 1890s.
