A Rare, Collectable Silver & Gold George VI Match Book Holder.

King George VI was crowned in 1937 after the abdication of his brother King Edward VIII. As the coronation was hurried and somewhat unprepared for, commemorative items are rather rarer than might be thought.

This is a charming Art Deco silver match case holder. The body is shaped and hinged and decorated with engine turning. The interior is gilded and to the front are a Royal Crown and cartouche engraved 1937 - both are in gold.

An excellent and desirable collector's piece.

Condition :- Excellent, with no splits or holes. there is a slight dent to the reverse, which is hard to see and shown in photo 2.

Hallmarks :- Full readable set, but with unidentified maker.

Date :- Birmingham 1936.

Length :- 6.5 cms. (to outside of clasp).

Width :- 4.75 cms.
