By setting a tanzanite, a gem only discovered in the late 1960s, we most definitely went for the latter. The combination of an old platinum and iridium mount and a very modern gem stone just works (if we do say so ourselves). Fresh and fabulous.

Cut - Oval cut tanzanite and round cut diamonds.
Colour - The tanzanite is the ideal purple-ish violet blue. Diamond are G.
Clarity - VS; all stones are clean when examined with a jeweller's loupe.
Carat - The tanzanite is 1.25 carat. The total approximate diamond weight is 0.12ct.

Circa - The mount is circa 1925. The tanzanite is obviously much newer.
Condition - Perfect.
Size - Currently N (UK) or 6 1/2 (US). Complementary sizing is available, can be sized up or down.
Measurements - The tanzanite measures 8mm by 6mm and sits 5.25mm from the finger.
Metal - 90 parts platinum, 10 part iridium. Stamped inside the band
