The Silver Cabinet has dated this piece to the 1800s.
The insides of both the pot and the lid are beautifully gilded.

The foot of the pot has been well repaired at some point - please see the photographs. It has, however, resulted in an inability to read the hallmark on the pot itself. As the maker's mark is that of Robert Hennell I and David Hennell II, the pounce pot can confidently be dated between 1795 and 1801.

There is an engraving to the front of the pounce pot - possibly MAE.
