Antique Solid Silver Mustard Pot with Spoon - Barnard

1900 - 1920
Description

This is a lovely Georgian-style solid sterling silver mustard pot made by the illustrious Barnard family.

The hallmarks are to the right of the handle base and are for London 1911 with the maker's mark for Edward Barnard & Sons Ltd.

It is slightly bulbous in shape, with the decorated lip at the top standing above a waist-like effect. The lid is plain and the finial a classical shape.

The handle is securely fitted and is decorated on the top with a leaf design. There is a partial hallmark inside the lid. The hinge is in good condition.

The mustard pot has four feet with heavily decorated 'legs'. The base of the pot is stamped with details of West & Son, as can be seen in the photograph.

The liner is blue and in excellent condition, free from any cracks or chips.

The mustard pot is 6.5cm long (excluding the handle) and 5cm in height (excluding the finial).

The spoon is also prettily decorated, with swags along the sides of the handle and on the finial also. It is hallmarked for Birmingham 1901 and made by George Nathan & Ridley Hayes. The hallmarks are clearly struck on the back of the bowl. The spoon is 8cm in length.

Although the spoon and mustard are not a matching set, they are very well suited.

Post and packaging is free within the UK via Royal Mail special delivery. Overseas buyers please e-mail for postage costs. Thank you.
