Irish Celtic Design Silver Cup

A superb two handled silver cup based on the Ardagh Chalice an 8th Century Irish Celtic treasure discovered in 1868. The cup has copious amounts of Celtic strapwork and bosses all finely cast and applied. There are a full set of marks for London 1914 and the makers are the Goldsmiths and Silversmiths company which were well known for making replicas of historical silver. The Cup has an original inscription to Charles H J Freeman 1914. The whole is in excellent condition and has a good weight of 409g.
