Superb Birmingham 1859 Solid Silver Hand Engraved Salver with Lovely Original Armorial Crest, Made by Superior Maker Elkington.

Description

Birmingham 1859 early Victorian beautiful English hallmarked solid silver tray or salver by superior maker Frederick Elkiington of Elkington and Co., having all original hand engraved intricate decoration.

The decoration comprises the original Elkington design of radiating scrolled leaves with a lovely armorial eagle crest to centre and a thick applied gadroon edge, the whole standing on three cast shell feet.

Size-10.25 inches in diameter by 1.25 inches high. Weight- a heavy 615 grams.

A superb Elkington salver in very good original condition.

Very useful to serve drinks or food, or to display a decanter and glasses or tea service.

Also a prudent investment in this period of soaring solid silver prices, very functional, and made by a famous maker known for superior quality.
