C1838 French Silver Table Seal in Original Case.

Description

Circa 1838, 19th century large French hallmarked .800 fine silver table or desk seal with boar's head hallmark, in the original fitted leather case retailed by Sussen Freres of Paris.

The seal is beautifully crafted with stylised foliage to main body, flower head and beaded edge to raised top, and octagonal stepped seal base.

Size is 2.7 inches long, by 1 inch wide, and weighs 40 grams.

It is in excellent condition, and is presented in the original fitted leather case with gilt retailers logo to inner lid.

Declaration

Serpentine Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
