London Circa 1805 Solid Silver George III Salt.

Description

London hallmarked for either 1805 or 1812 (year letter rubbed) large English hallmarked solid silver pierced salt with beaded edge, claw feet, and original cobalt blue liner.

Within the lovely line pierced panel, bordered with v shaped pierced borders, there are three pierced cartouches of a bird with spread wings, and one vacant solid one, suitable for engraving, if desired.

Elegant Georgian bright cutting is also featured amongst the pierced work.

The detail on the feet is lovely, and the liner (with minor fleabites) fits very securely into the salt.

3.25 inches long by 2.5 inches wide, by 2.0 inches high.

A lovely large example of a fine Georgian silver salt, with good weight, and in very good condition.
