Description

Sheffield 1927 English hallmarked solid silver quaich or bowl or porringer and matching spoon by very collectable maker Harry Atkin in original deep fully fitted case.

This is originally a type of Scottish drinking cup. The quaich is a Scottish drinking vessel totally unique to Scotland. It was used to give a guest both a cup of welcome, and also for farewell. The drink was usually a dram of whisky. The drink was usually a dram of whisky. It was also used to give the piper a drink at a wedding.

Elegant reeded top side edge trim, and lovely shaped handles.

Weight-180 grams.

Size-bowl is 6 inches wide with handles and 2 inches high. Spoon is 6.25 inches long by 1.4 inches wide to spoon bowl.

A wonderful and symbolic gift for a wedding or Christening. Very functional piece to use for sauces or custard.

A very versatile piece of silver, beautifully crafted and presented in a lovely case, by an excellent and collectable maker.

Unusual to find in solid silver.

In very good condition.
