Birmingham 1929 Solid Silver Stilton Scoop.

Description

Birmingham 1929, made the year of the Wall Street Stock Crash, an English hallmarked solid silver heavy weight Stilton scoop in the Old English pattern.

Stilton scoops were developed to deal with scooping a serving of cheese from a full or half wheel of Stilton cheese. The implement had to be efficient and unable to be easily bent. These were very popular from the mid 1700's to the end of the Edwardian era, and are much desired and prised today.

8 inches long and nearly 1.5 inches wide in the shaped bowl, this scoop was made by Barker Brothers, very good makers.

Very weighty at 85 grams.

A very good Stilton scoop, that will make a lovely gift or a treat for yourself.

In excellent condition.
