Serpentine Antiques has dated this piece to the 1900s.

With all over repousse scroll, foliate and leafy design, bordered by applied gadrooned edges this makes a very classic statement on dressing table or desk to hold jewellery, trinkets or for use as a desk tidy. The raised decoration is polished over a matt ground, so makes a lovely first impression.

The hinged lid opens to reveal the original pale gilded interior, and there are three blank cartouches (one on the lid top and one on each of the front and back sides of the body centre), which could be personalised if one wishes.

The whole stands on a stepped base.
Size-6.5 inches wide by 3 inches deep by 1 5/8 inches high.
Weight-135 grams.
