19thc Solid Silver Dutch Basket, with Chester 1913 Import Marks for English Hallmarked Solid Silver.

Description

19th century solid silver Dutch hallmarked sweetmeat basket, later imported into England, and therefore also with full English solid silver hallmarks for Chester 1913, a very collectable assay office. This was imported into the UK by Boaz Moses Landeck of London, an importer of Continental silver, and marked with his sponsor's mark.

In very good condition, this basket has a braided handle and base edge, and is embossed with country scenes on both sides. One side shows two women, while the other shows a man and a woman.

Great to hold trinkets, jewellery, desk tidy, or sweets.

Very good quality, and an unusual and romantic item.

Size 4.5 inches high (with handle) by 3.25 inches wide.

A special piece.
