Large Impressive Antique English Silver Plated Asparagus Server C.1900

Description

It's so hard to find Asparagus servers these days of any description, but to find a large example like this is rather special.

The two handled tray accommodates the Asparagus rack which incorporates the two small sauce boats, perfect if you wanted to serve two sauces, perhaps a melted butter and a Hollandaise sauce. The underside of the tray is marked by the London silversmith, James Jay of Oxford Street, dating the piece to around 1900.

We have managed to team it with a pair of Asparagus serving tongs to complete the offering, ready for use. The makers mark for the Tongs is the top-notch London silversmith, Mappin and Webb.

A wonderful example and in excellent condition. 16 1/2" x 7".
