Antique English Curling Stone Serving Dishes by Fenton Brothers, Sheffield

19th century
Sold by Puckerings
Description

It's been a long time since I have had a Fenton Brothers Curling box, the last was slightly larger, more of a biscuit box and a slightly different format, but with exactly the same mark, by Fenton Brothers of Sheffield.

The larger of three pieces would be more of Bon Bon or Candy box, or smaller biscuits or cookies; measuring 5" in diameter x 6" tall. The box is supported on four wonderful crossed Curling Brushes. The handle at the top is made from horn and slightly different to the other two.

The two smaller boxes are serving dishes for sauces or something similar as they have the spot for a spoon to be left, the spoons came with the dishes but are not by the same maker but finish the offering. These two smaller boxes measure 4 1/2" in diameter x 4 1/4" tall.

All pieces are marked by the Fenton Brothers, and would date them to the late Victorian era, around 1890. They are also marked EP for Electro-Plated (silver plate).

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
