Magnificent Large Antique English Art Nouveau Silver Plated Dish or Bowl by Roberts & Belk

Description

A fantastic find, this large late Victorian dish dates to around 1890, clearly very Art Nouveau with it's all-round pierced or reticulated decoration. The front has a large vacant presentation shield.

Standing on it's original four bun feet, the dish frame is made from silver plate with a full mark on the underside for the well renowned quality silversmith, Roberts & Belk of Sheffield.

The Bristol Blue glass liner is original and miraculously undamaged. The glass was hand-blown with a ground pontil mark on the underside.

Excellent condition, the stand has a footprint measuring 11" across, the glass liner having a rim diameter measuring 9"; the piece standing 5 1/4" tall.
