Elmgarden has dated this piece to the 1900s.
These superb Joint or Joined Stools were originally intended to be used in the family home at sad time of a funeral, they would have been placed at either end to support the coffin for the family, friends and servants to pay their last respects to the deceased

These are a wonderful pair of stools, slightly faded in colour but with a lovely patina, the edges of the stools are slightly misshaped where the edges have been worn away with constant use, they make great occasional stools, or even small side tables
The stools are 21” high, 18” wide and 11” deep
