Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1890s.
The underside reveals even the three original fasteners are in place, made from sterling each with the makers mark.

The stand has a long channel to the front which is of course a pen rest what makes this one rather special is the little candlestick or taper holder.
The two inkwells are in superb condition, beautifully cut and with highly decorative repousse hinged lids.

The hallmarks all match for Sheffield 1896, making this a true Victorian example together with the makers initials HW for the silversmiths Lee & Wigfull / Henry Wigfull.
The stand measures 7 1/2" x 6 1/4".
