Serpentine Antiques has dated this piece to the 1930s.

Made by Barker Brothers, very good makers.
Size-13.25 inches long by 3.5 inches wide.
Originally used in the building trade to present at a topping out ceremony when the building was finished, it is also used today to serve cakes, pies and other desserts in addition to its original use.

A wonderful very hard to find piece with both trowel and case in very good condition.
