A Magnificent Early Victorian Silver Cream Jug.

A superb engraved Victorian silver cream jug of baluster form. This imposing piece is mounted on four cast feet and has a delightful shaped handle adorned with acanthus leaves. The body is beautifully engraved with floral and foliate motifs and there is a vacant cartouche to the front. The cartouche to the reverse has engraved script initials ( photo 3) and the interior is gilded.

Condition :- Very good, with no major dents and no splits. There are a couple of minor dimples around the base area and the gilding inside is scratched, although not worn through. All commensurate with age and use.

Hallmarks :- Softening, but readable.

Height :- 16.5 cms (to top of handle).
