Made from silverplate, the underside reveals a solid Iron base, creating a solid and hefty piece.

The solid crystal inkwells are topped with hinged lids, with complimentary filigree work, as does the central cylindrical box to store pen nibs, sealing wax and similar desk-top paraphernalia. Each side has a pair of pen rest cradles.

A superb, unusual desk-top accessory dating to the late Victorian era, around 1890. Measuring 9 1/2" x 6 1/2" foot to foot.
